Body and cover

Made of ductile iron EN GJS 400-15 in compliance with EN 1563 standards (GGG 40 to DIN 1693) and coated internally and externally with epoxy powder (average thickness 250µ) by means of an electrostatic process. The internal and external coatings have been designed for contact with drinking water, pursuant to the terms of the Italian Health Ministry Decree no. 174 of 6/4/2004.

Shaft

One-piece metal shaft obtained by forging and rolling an X20Cr13 (St 14021) type stainless steel bar in accordance with UNI EN 1174 (formerly UNI 10269), UNI 7125 and ENI EN 10088-1.

Wedge

The wedge is made of ductile iron EN GJS 400-15 in accordance with EN 1563 (GGG 40 to DIN 1693) and has been vulcanised throughout with NBR/EPDM rubber designed for use with drinking water. A draining hole is provided on the underside to prevent backwater. The wedge is bolted to the extension shaft by means of a brass nut (OT 58).

Seal between body and cover

This seal is made of EPDM rubber designed for use with drinking water, and has a specially shaped section for corrosion protection of all retaining screws seated between body and covering.

Seal between shaft and cover

Manufactured to meet the requirements of UNI EN 1174, this seal consists of four EPDM O-rings (complying with UNI 3601/01) seated in four slots provided inside a brass bushing: two for the seal between bushing and covering, two for the seal between bushing and shaft. A lip seal (made of EPDM rubber) placed in a specially shaped seat in the cover provides additional sealing power through the compression caused by a fully raised wedge: this makes it possible to replace the O-rings even when the valve is operating (in compliance with ISO 7259 standard).

Cover screws

These screws are made of 5.8 carbon steel according to UNI EN ISO 898-1, installed in seats in the cover insulated with a protective coating.

Bushing

Brass (OT 58) bushing providing the seats for the O-ring seals.

Friction disc

Made of synthetic resin with low friction coefficient, capable of reducing torque on shaft.

Dust seal

Made of EPDM rubber, it prevents sand and various sediments from entering in underground applications.

Marking

In accordance with EN19: DN, PN, material, manufacturer logo.

Couplings

Standard version with handwheel can be coupled with an extension spindle especially designed for use only with RACI models. Can be coupled with electric actuators by means of an ad hoc flange.

Flanges

Flange drilling to EN 1092-2 PN 10/16. Different drilling available on request. Overall length to UNI 7125/72.

Testing

Body testing with open wedge: 24 bar (in compliance with UNI 7125/75 - ISO 5208). Differential testing of wedge: 16 bar (in compliance with UNI 7125/75 - ISO 5208).

Temperature

Maximum operating temperature is 70°C. N.B. the gate valve must be used only in the fully open or fully closed position.
